Do you feel like your kitchen is small? How do you open up the space?

Here are a few easy solutions that don’t require a full remodel…..

1. Add Lighting

If you don’t have recessed cans in your kitchen make sure you add these. The general rule spaces them 3-4 feet apart. A licensed electrician can help with this as your floor joists will dictate where your cans can be added. Under cabinet lighting can also lighten up the space. Check out the newer led strips.

2. Declutter

It goes without saying…..the less clutter on your countertops the more open the space.

3. Refinish
If you have dark cabinets refinishing them to a light color can help open the space. Don’t forget your walls. Lighten those as well. Some great colors, Benjamin Moore’s simply white or Sherwin Williams Accessible Beige.

4. Level your peninsula or island
This removes the barrier or stopping point in your kitchen. By adding a new a level countertop the space opens up into the adjoining room.
